Kaihere Accoyo Spartacus
Spartacus was selected by Alan Hamilton (Somerset) Spartacusand Ron Condon (Shanbrooke) from an elite group of adult working males at Don Julio Barreda's Accoyo Stud. Sought after throughout the world, Accoyo males are the results of a unique 50 year line-breeding program on Don Julio's property north west of the township of Nunoa on the Altiplano of Peru.

Imported into Australia in February 2002 he was originally destined to be one of the elite studs for the Australian Somerset herd. Unfortunately budget over-runs for this major import, brought about by various unforeseen world calamities, forced the sale of this superb stud male. Spartacus was purchased by a syndicate of top New Zealand breeders and imported in August of 2002. Spartacus will have a major influence on the breeding of the elite animals in New Zealand.

Spartacus came through quarantine when he was over three years old, yet his fleece at that time had an average diameter of 17.0 microns with a standard deviation of only 3.7u. The comfort factor of that fleece was 99.5%.
