The Whangarei A&P Show
4 December, 2006

The weather was the BEST! The show was very well organised (thanks to Mike Moller, Anne Rogers, Paul Garland, Kevin Burgess, Warren Slater, and Peter Thornhill) and it appeared that the exhibitors were really enjoying every aspect of the competition

For suri breeders, it was business as usual. But, it was the first show for shorn huacayas. This made for an interesting approach to scoring; combining a score for the fleece (off the alpaca) with a score for conformation (as seen in the show ring).

We were absolutely thrilled to see Lallybroch Duncan win the Junior Huacaya White/Light-fawn Composite class, especially since his sire (Silverstream Ledgers Legacy) is one of our stud males.

A little later in the judging, we were excited once again to see Lallybroch Alexander win the Senior Huacaya White/Light-fawn Composite class, since we have used him over a couple of our females.

Another of Legacy's progeny (Windsong Benson) was awarded second place in the Intermediate Huacaya Conformation class, helping to inflate Legacy's ego before he went into the ring.

Legacy won first place in the Senior Huacaya Conformation class, followed by Stirling Rose Ferrari (another of our stud males) placing second.

All in all, a good day for us and a tremendous day for Lallybroch. We are already making plans to exhibit some of our best alpacas at next year's show.
